Re: Bloody fireworks

2012 to 2014 was heaven here at New Year. No fireworks at all which shocked us as our village is all Spanish (apart from us). But (discounting us) the average age is probably 80 so that's probably...

Re: Strongly thinking of moving to Benlemandea or funegirola

I run an internet business here in Spain. Most of my clients are in the UK and the States. However, as has been said above - I have to pay all my taxes and Social Security here in Spain. This isn't...

Re: What do you think about Mojacer

Mojacar is a little too touristy and British for my tastes (been there done that) but that may be just what you're looking for because that then goes hand in hand with extra stuff you wouldn't get...

Re: Living in gran canaria

Hubby has just told me I don't know what I'm talking about with the airports because Almería is 90 minutes from us but Alicante is more like 2 to 2.5 hours. That's what you get for listening to a...

Re: Living in gran canaria

Hi Alexis. I'm very happy to answer your questions. We've been here three years now and are very happy. There are pros and cons of course. What some people may find a pro is a con in other people's...

Re: Living in gran canaria

I must admit I grimaced for you when I read your budget. I think you would seriously struggle to live on that amount in the Canaries.

We lived on a frugal average of €1000 per month (excluding...

Re: moving to almeria area in spain

Hi tishtosh.

Sorry that it's taken so long for you to get a reply (apart from your welcome message of course).

Did you make the move? Or are you still thinking about it?

I'm about half an...

Re: Gas Heaters/Bottles, Help!

This happened to us with new bottles Jimenato.

Re: Gas Heaters/Bottles, Help!

Yes, exactly the same issue. The flame was sitting about 3/4 of a inch above where it should be when trying to light it and making a blowing sound... so when you release the dial it just goes out....

Re: Gas Heaters/Bottles, Help!

We had a similar problem. We bought a can of compressed air from the local ferreteria and gave the nozzle (fire end not gas bottle end) a blast of air after wiggling a cotton bud in there gently (it...

Re: Autonomo - Working hours question

I have to admit, that's the first I heard of it. I've been autonomo since 2006 and have never been advised of limits on hours by my Asesoria.

I think it would be very difficult to monitor......

Re: Why Spain

We lived in the Canaries for our first 6 years outside of the UK. Yes, the weather took us there initally. It was either Canaries or Italy... and a safety net of friends swung it for us.

Last...

Re: Thinking of moving to Spain????

I live just north of Albox in the area you are looking at. My area itself doesn't have many Brits about... but Albox itself, Oria, and Arboleas all do.

Sounds like Arboleas ticks a lot of your...

I see that he goes to Arboleas for Number 48. Does he need somewhere to stay for a night or two? We're about half an hour away (just north of Albox) and happy to provide our spare room, and a good...

Re: Something fishy......

Thanks Mr Dasterdly.

There are arguments for and against Panga. It's a personal choice, and not one that should be thrust upon others - either way around. Personally I choose never to eat it...
