Thanks for your reply. Yes we've heard it is a good area for famillies etc.

As for the snow......am getting conflicting views....some say it is in the snow belt (like Barrie) others say it...

We live in Barrie but are seriously thinking about moving to Kitchener/Waterloo next spring or summer.

we are in Ontario....and we applied for universal child benefit one we had been here for 19 months on work permits. We received the first payment in July. They are going to issue a back dated...

We have flown Canadian Affair a couple of times on their Thomas Cook flights and found them to be OK. They are certainly not a high end airline...but they did the job.

My PR was "fast tracked" and came through in just under a year. I think it would have been a lot quicker, but London lost some papers and wife's fingerprints so we had to supply duplicate...

We got our work permits at the POE at Niagara Falls when we first came over. We didn't need medicials or police checks.
They wanted to see the LMO approval, copy of work contract, passports,...

We have just got back from Niagara Falls as perm residents....we landed on my wife's birthday!!!!
The US immigration guy that we got was great and even wished her a happy birthday...they don't...

You can apply for your PR at anytime. I have been here since August 2006 on work permit and applied for my PR in July 07......just waiting for my passports to come back from London....so 6...
