SIA are inconsistent I did not have to show my card last trip (oct 09) but previous 2 trips they did ask for it.

I still think they are the best airline flying uk to oz.

If you are renewing the credit card take that, and the expired one to check in when you fly. Email Singapore airlines well in advance and tell them what you intend to do.

Whilst you may have managed entry on an eta without this document it is a requirement if you apply for 636 paper visa, I don't know how you managed it.(wish I did as it cost best part of 150 pounds...

You may have other problems other than actual travel.
Persons aged over 70 must have a medical certificate issued by their GP to obtain a visitors visa ,this involves a medical examination.

If he is aged under 30 I suggest he goes on a working holiday visa ,he will find it easy to find work . When he finds a farm...
