Default RYA qualifications?

Hello All,

Just a quick question, I currently hold a RYA (Royal Yachting Association) commercial yachtmaster ticket and was wondering whether or not to renew it. Can anyone tell me if it will be recognised in Oz (specifically Queensland) or will I have to retake a load of tests?

Thanks in advance for any help, best regards, Russell.

Hi there,

I have recently attained RYA day skipper tickets and it is my understanding that they are recognised in Oz, although at the high level that you are at i wouldn't like to say for sure.

Hi I'm an RYA principal so I get all the magazines and newsletters sent to me. Last year they ran an article about RYA now being recocnised in AUS.
Also the inspector who came to inspect my center had been offered a job there inspecting new centers.

I'd definitely re-take it.

I'm sure you've seen this already, but it might help: http://www.rya.org.uk/AboutRYA/progr...naustralia.htm

I currently hold RYA coastal skipper qualification, does anyone know if this is acceptable evidence of experience for bareboat charter in Australia

If its the practical element it will be ok. If its only the theory certificate then no (not usually).
