St Kilda is St Kilda, and I think its a very unique diverse place that fits in and adds to the Melbourne character. Some Streets are shat holes and there are some freaky people on the other hand...

Both big cities, with a lot to offer and things to do for the kids etc, etc!

I agree and that fortunatly is what melbourne is good at, -speciality stores and independant retaliers, specifically in the inner suburbs of Melbourne.

How can you keep spreading out when you havent got the infrastrcture to support it? You need to add density to already established areas with infrastructure, otherwise you will have endless suburbs...

The Bellarine and surf coast are fantastic places in the warmer months. The Geelong waterfront is preety impressive now as well.
However i wouldnt like to commute into Melbourne from Geelong

Bsically, In melbourne not sure about other cities, the city has differnet zones which enforce how high a building can be built. So the CBD Area is unlimited (As long as the yarra is not shadowed),...

Just remember you will get a lot of rain in Brisbane in Summer, with a lot less variety and culture than Melbourne.

I love hearing about people avoiding Melbourne because they think it gets cold,...

The top and bottom is that you will experience cold weather is Melbourne in Winter! or anytime from may to September. WOW Shock, its gets cold in OZ! so if you require year round warm weather head...
