As in Child Benefit?

Have a look here, it tells you what the qualifying criteria are for child benefit and if you qualify if you live abroad.

Child Benefit - do you qualify

No. Why would you? You are no longer a UK resident so why bludge off the State, earn your money here and use it wisely and leave the UK to give your old FA to a worthy immigrant or student!

Why lose out??? In the UK you don't get a tax concession allowing you a Renbtal and Food allowance like you do here if on a 457. Some things here you lose out on, but some things you win on, all evens out and anyway, its not for long is it!

I've met people who have been here for years and have kept claiming UK child benefit, if that is what it's called these days.

We are currently applying for our 457 and I have 1 Million things on my mind - this certainly wasn't one of them! Didn't even occur to me

Was more concerned about cancelling it in time so we're not overpaid!

Makes a refreshing change.

There are a lot of people around that seem to think other tax payers should fund their lifestyle even when they are in work.

You should point out that not all employers offer that tax incentive.
