Hmm, be very careful there. You are allowed in NZ to do basic electrical work (ie change lightbulbs, re-wire plugs) but thats about it.

Using a UK adaptor might cause you problems if your house...

Yup, good to have our own forum again. Ceri is correct, there Was a separate NZ forum a few years ago, but it lasted about a month & was then merged back into 1 aus/nz forum.
