Re: Help needed RE: importing dog to UK from Canada

As pets coming into the UK have to arrive as "cargo", you may have to go through a cargo company rather than directly through the airline. I shipped 2 dogs from Toronto to Manchester and they were on...

Re: Drivers license- issue date- Ontario

Yes, just got a drivers abstract, which also indicated the date the first licence was issued. It depends who reviews your application though as it seems some of them are slightly knowledgeable about...

Re: Drivers license- issue date- Ontario

Automatic only. My understanding is this restriction is added unless you can prove you did a driving test in a manual vehicle, which I don't believe is something that is recorded in Ontario.

Re: Drivers license- issue date- Ontario

I had not previously had a UK driving licence prior to exchanging my Ontario licence but I did have this issue where DVLA used the last issue date of my Ontario licence rather than it's original...

Re: Move Cube questions

When I did it, the list was somewhere in the middle between just writing "tools" and listing each one out, about how you wrote it in your post. Is this just for your movers or for an application for...

Re: Canadian/US Resume vs UK/EU CV

Keep in mind how dates are typically formatted in Canada/US vs. the rest of the world. It's not a huge thing to be concerned about but it sticks out immediately and may not be the type of attention...

Re: What do you all think? Ontario or the UK?

As someone who has relatively recently made that move, the major consideration for us was the lower cost of living in the UK. While my salary in the UK is substantially lower than it would have been...

Re: Spouse Visa Extension - Both Freelance - Audit Accounts or CoC?

I think the issue arises because they've lumped in directors of limited companies with sole traders in terms of how to meet the financial requirements, they don't expect everyone to submit audited...

Re: More bank Statement Drama - any ideas?

Could submit the application to ensure it's within the 28 days and then select an appointment for a later date you're sure you will have the evidence by.

Re: Spouse visa extension

The online FLR(M) application will generate a checklist of required supporting documentation once completed based on the information provided. This documentation can then either be scanned and...

Re: IHS PAYMENT OVERCHARGED?? HELP

The Home Office Exchange Rate Policy may help some of you wondering about differences in costs for fees charged in local currencies. HO does not charge a real-time exchange rate, the rates are set at...

Re: Spouse Visa Bank statements

Not sure about Barclays, but some banks allow you to request paper statements be sent from an online account. If not, I'm sure an email, call or letter request would probably do the trick, it's a...

Re: Brexit and UK spouse visa

This is getting off-topic for the forum. As noted, the fee is entirely to cover the service received (i.e. getting the visa). Non-EU spouses pay a fee because they are provided a service to get...

Re: Brexit and UK spouse visa

With regards to spouse visas for non-EU dependants of British nationals, I'm not sure why you think there would be any impact from Brexit. The exact same process will apply both for those spouses...

Re: Help needed RE: importing dog to UK from Canada

I didn't use a pet relocation company - did it all myself (well, technically ourselves). It's time consuming and there's a lot to stay on top of, but the paperwork and everything else can be done...

Re: Visa application app issues

I understand it's frustrating, especially the error with the email system. That will be worth checking again as it could just have been a temporary thing. You can also contact them by phone, for a...

Re: Help needed RE: importing dog to UK from Canada

Sounds like a good deal to me, I paid about $6,000 to ship two dogs from Toronto and that was just for transport alone with kennels and trips to the vet on top of that. It's far more expensive and...

Re: Info for Canadian (dual) citizens residing abroad

Interesting, I had no trouble using the online form to register and still seems to work when I try and access it and upload documents. Turnaround was fairly quick and I received my ballot about a...

Re: Moving from Toronto to UK. Any recommendations for pet transport companies?

I moved 2 dogs from Toronto to Manchester just over a year ago. Arranged everything ourselves and didn't have any issues. As long as you're aware of all the documentation for transporting pets and...

Re: IHS question

Initial spouse visa is granted for 33 months rather than 30 months (2.5 years) with applications from outside the UK I believe. For part years greater than 6 months they charge for you the IHS fee...

Re: FLR(M) questions

Having recently submitted an application, I suggest it may be worth submitting an application and securing an appointment as early as you can to mitigate the stress through the process. Depending on...
