Default IHS question

Applied for the visa through the new access site after completing the application on the visa4uk site which I learned was defunct. Now it is asking me to pay the IHS and states that it is £400 per year of the visa. I enter in all of the details (spouse visa which is 2.5 years?) and it has given me a price of 1536 USD which seems weird - can anyone help me understand?

Default Re: IHS question

Initial spouse visa is granted for 33 months rather than 30 months (2.5 years) with applications from outside the UK I believe. For part years greater than 6 months they charge for you the IHS fee for a whole year, so for the initial spouse visa the cost is £1200 pounds for 3 years. Additional details and a fee calculator are available on the UKVI website (sorry, can't post URLs apparently). Then it's just the UKVI exchange rate to USD that results in the final price.
