Re: Are we really in the 21st Century?

That probably was an arrogant speculation on my part, to which I apologize. Though it doesn't really deviate from the jaw-droppingly arrogant tenor of this thread. Thus I'm retreating from it after...

Re: Are we really in the 21st Century?

Yawn... America has a very high standard of living--otherwise British expats wouldn't come here, talk about how high their standard of living is, then complain about how backward the technology is....

Re: Are we really in the 21st Century?

Yikes. That is hard to read.

Again, can't say I'm crazy about it, but I now live in a hyper-Catholic area just a hop/skip outside of the Bible Belt, and I can tell you that abortion of any sort...

Re: Are we really in the 21st Century?

I'm confused. How is US behind Europe technically? Is it the cell/mobile phone thing again, or our lack of high speed rail? (Keep in mind rail is a 19th century technology.) Which country...

Re: Does your grocery store spray water on the veggies?

I've always thought the reason they drench the veggies is so they stay nice and waterlogged...and heavy. If they charge by the ounce, it weighs more and more $$$ for the grocer!

Re: US traffic lights are inefficient - surprise

From "John Cletheroe's USA and Canada Holiday Hints", on Driving in the US:

In most US states and Canadian provinces, when turning left from one one-way road into another one-way road, you...

Re: Girly sports?

I read recently that US has about the same % of population using mobile phones as Jamaica, a much poorer country.

Could it be that it's because cell phone use just hasn't "caught on" in the US in...

Re: American Public "Guarding" Border- What Do You Think?

Aiaiai---if that's really how you perceive the situation, than you probably should skip on over to Europe. (You've already got the British spelling down pat.) But is the grass always greener on the...

Re: OT: Feeding Tube removal

December 26th, 2004 - Bush is vacationing in Crawford again, when he learns that a series of tsunamis have hit the nations rimming the Eastern Indian Ocean, killing tens of thousands of people. He...

Re: Vets gone mad?

YIKES! No offense taken (or intended) but this is very far from the truth. Perhaps people who keep their pets exclusively indoors might still get cats declawed, but I know the stigma towards...

Re: Know your USA GEOGRAPHY ????

Yank here, never lived in Europe, got an 86% and 66 miles average error. Those blankety-blank tiny countries (Monaco, Malta, Vatican) really got me.

But where's Cyprus on the quiz?

Re: Relocating within the US

Dont mean to rain on your parade (as is happening right now and putting a real damper on our Mardi Gras!), but I'm not sure that escaping to CA or CO will offer much amnesty from high home prices. ...

Re: Midwest (Indiana, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois)

Hi, I'm an American from the Midwest who, gosh darn it, is simply fascinated by expat websites.

I don't live in the Midwest anymore but grew up in Indianapolis and wanted to respond to the...
