Points test advice is optional. It's not required. A visa case officer has a right to ask for points test advice, but providing your employment evidence is sound then you should not need it.

A former work colleague can write a statutory declaration (affidavit) confirming your dates of employment and duties. ACS prefer that they were at a supervisory level to you but this is not a 100%...

UK police checks shouldn't take long. They are only valid for 12 months, so you don't want to apply ridiculously early. Same applies to medicals.
