We make our own bacon, easy enough to do. I went to two branches of lidl on monday, looking for the cheddar, before reading the website a bit more carefully, lol! Got lots of it now.

Cheddar and stilton at Lidl from Monday. Also Worcester sauce (not L&P) for €1.20 a bottle, I paid nearly a fiver at the supermarket.

Lidl has thier decent lager on sale from today, for the weekend. It will sell out today, so if you want it you had better hurry, 6.60 for a case of 18 X 500ml.

I ordered two pairs of reading glasses from China, costing less than 5 euros, and had to pay 2 euros in customs charges.

We have made our own baked beans in the past, with mixed results.
There are a couple of Asian supermarkets within driving distance. Useful mainly for eastern ingredients, they also stock quite a few...

There is a website called Transponder.tv that has a wide selection of uk channels available to watch live. It used to be free to use if you did not need to record shows, not sure about that anymore....
