Re: New territories HK?

The New Territories are less crowded than Kowloon and Hong Kong Island, but there's just relative. Anyone from Australia going there will still find the residential areas very built-up. Most people...

Re: Any hotel recs for singapore and paris

How many travelling? For families, it's much cheaper and nicer to stay at serviced apartments. We used www.paristay.com (http://www.paristay.com) 2 years ago and got a really nice and spacious...

Re: Would you have dated your SO in high school?

No. I was at a girls' school and he was at a boys' school, in different countries!

Even if we were at the same school, I don't think we would have dated. I was too focused in my studies to worry...

Re: School recommendations south/coast of Brisbane

I assume you're looking at primary for the younger child and high school for the elder one. Ormiston State Primary and Wellington Point State Primary are quite good among the state schools. The...

Re: Tefal Actifry - anyone got one?

I had a look at the current Tefal AU web site, the white one is exactly the same as our first and second ones, bought Feb 2010, and replaced March/April 2010. I would have assumed that mine were the...

Re: Tefal Actifry - anyone got one?

Thanks for the link, roaringmouse.

Wish we had found that report when we were researching Actifry two years ago! Most comments we found (1st page of google) were positive... :sneaky: In some...

Re: Tefal Actifry - anyone got one?

We went through 2 Actifrys in 1 1/2 years.

First one - the plastic bit of the filter broke within a month of purchase. We were able to get a new one as it was under warranty.

Second one - a...

Re: Making realtionships work between 2 people from different countries

I thought that was the greatest thing about meeting people who haven't travelled much! You get to make up all kinds of tales to tell, like, I am Chinese but also Catholic Budhist, not Prostestant...

Ex-hire furniture auction

Just got an email on ex-hire furniture (most with marks and scratches but still looks nicer than stuff from Ikea) auction and thought it may be of use to someone in the Brisbane area.

Re: Whats the longest distance you have driven for one single event.

Oh, I meant Cooloola Cove. :p Near Tin Can Bay. And yes, I thought of you when we kept seeing the sign for Gympie!

Re: Whats the longest distance you have driven for one single event.

My record is quite lame - from Birkdale to Coolooba Cove, 233km, a 3-hour drive, to visit friends. It seemed like an eternity with two little monsters who kept asking if we were there yet every 5...

Re: Schoolboy [14] Arrested in Bali Drug Bust

Not by me, for DOING that.

It'll be ideal if he can be brought back but I still want him put in a juvenile prison for the same term.

Re: IQ Test-from Harvard University

Two obvious answers. Both untrue

If 1=5 then 5=1. which is incorrect. 5 does not equal 1

Or you follow the number progression so 5=54325 which is also incorrect.

Really? Harvard ask a...

How about this one.

I was on school ground, walking past a car park to pick up my daughter. At the pedestrian crossing, a 4WD went straight past me without stopping. Then immediately,...

Re: Advice please on Landscaping

What's included in 'planting'? Do you mean cost of trees, shrubs, some feature plants, and labour to stick them in the soil? When I was at the farmers' market on the weekend, I had a look at prices...

Re: Advice please on Landscaping

It's true, lawns are great for kids but the mowing isn't always fun. We've got over 1/2 acre of grass so I know... I don't mind big open areas but hate going around obstacles in the garden.

Re: Advice please on Landscaping

Look up "Concrete Breaking" in your area on the Yellow Pages and get a few quotes to help you decide if the quote for the whole job is too high.

Have you got much grass on the rest of your...

Re: Potential Move to HK with current employer

Property prices, both rent and purchase, have indeed gone up a lot the past year. HKD$40k per month is about the bottom end of a decent place in Mid-Levels Central. However, Mid-Levels West or East...
