Re: The stupidity of drivers

Ute drivers seem to be the main culprits of tailgating in the Redlands. In fact I reckon if mandatory IQ tests were linked to license renewals the majority of ute drivers would vanish from the...

We need to break our lease on a rental property in Cleveland. Apparently the law states that we have to continue paying rent until either the end of the lease or new tenants are found. Our real...

Re: Queensland House Stamp / Transfer Duty

There seems to be a lot of confusion around this issue. I've had two mortgage brokers tell me that I would be eligible for stamp duty concession even though I've owned a house in the U.K. I guess...

Just a quick question. What would my tax situation be if I returned to the U.K to reside and rented out my property here in Australia? I have dual U.K/Australian citizenship if that makes...

Re: AU Child Benefit

But don't forget that Kevin Dudd decided to income test Family Tax B in the last budget. If the sole earner in the family earns more than 150K per year you will get nothing.

Re: Best credit card for Oz

I've just applied for one of these:

http://om.hsbc.com.au/lowrate/default.aspx?r=googlesearch&WT.srch=1

Seems pretty good:

0% p.a. until 1 June 2008 on purchases
0% p.a. until 1 October...

Beware of the unmarked cop cars in Redlands

I've just got fined $250 with 4 points for travelling at 80kph on a deserted road where the limit is 60kph. I wasn't caught by the normal police van hidden behind a bush. An unmarked police car...

Re: superannuation tax query

So if you decide to go back to the U.K permanently what happens to your Australian super fund? Do you have to travel back to Australia when you are 55 to claim it?!!

Re: Noisy toddlers and babies......

We came over in business class and our one year old daughter screamed solid for 7 hours! We didn't care about the dirty looks from other passengers.

Don't worry about it.

Re: IT Contracting in OZ ( Brissy )

Contracting certainly doesn't have any tax benefits here. The 80/20 rule is strictly enforced by the ATO....unlike IR35 in the U.K.
