We've kept our HSBC account open - changed address to australia and sgined some form so that we don't pay tax. Been great for family members to be able to pay money into for birthdays and christmas...

We moved over 9 months ago with a 2 year old boy with much the same thoughts in mind.....his life is incomporable to the UK. HE LOVES IT. He spends so much more time outside, so much more family...

Once they know you have left you will have to pay back anything you were paid from the date you left....fortunately we thought this might happen so didn't spend any of it and just returned it to them...
