Re: CRB/Spain

Alternatively, if you want, you can do it in person. It's the same paper you have to fill in, same fee but no solicitor. The problem is that not all cities have a Gerencia Territorial de Justicia,...

Re: Galicia:Rias Altas/Baixas/Costa da Morte?

First of all, I'm quite glad to read that someone is interested in visiting Galicia, as opposed to the most popular "south". Casa Santo Estevo has written an amazing summary of tourism here, so I...

Re: Galicia

Hi there! I'm Galician. I know Cee (and O Pindo), I used to spend my summers in the area when I was younger.

Re: How long did it take you to learn Spanish?

Re: How long did it take you to learn Spanish?

I have no idea where it comes from, but it's not "me caguen Dios" but "me cagüen Dios". Cagüen doesn't exist but I assume it's an colloquial expression that has been transformed to make it less...

Re: Moving kids with no spanish to a spanish school

I also think there are too many subjects. Going on with my previous post, I really liked A-level system there where you can concentrate on less subjects and you have more freedom to choose them. That...

Re: Moving kids with no spanish to a spanish school

Hehe, I'd need a whole forum to answer that but I can tell you the first impressions/differences of a Spaniard going there: students divided in ability sets was a shock for people; no exams, marks,...

Re: Moving kids with no spanish to a spanish school

Mothers might be "catty" (sic) about repeating basically because many parents are more worried about what other people might think than their own kid's education. It's that sad. So that's not a proof...

Re: Moving kids with no spanish to a spanish school

Kids have been repeating here for ages and I've never heard of problems in social development. Yeah, they are not in the same class as their friends but sometimes that might be a good thing as well....

Re: Bad food brought from Supermarket

I don't have anything against Lidl, I've been there and it's good for buying some stuff. And if you say your local shop is like that, then you're lucky! I was only saying that when talking about food...

Re: Moving kids with no spanish to a spanish school

Yeah, but I don't see any logic on always passing and not having proper exams/marks in any subject, especially when they're a bit older. And at least in primary school, when a kid repeats the year,...

Re: Moving kids with no spanish to a spanish school

That's really good!

What's your opinion on the Spanish system where you are marked every year and in each subject and you don't go on to the next year if you fail vs the British one?

Re: Bad food brought from Supermarket

Lidl, Dia?! Isn't there anything better in those regions? Those are low-cost supermarkets where people go for special offers but never expecting good quality. There are local markets too, at least in...

Re: Bad food brought from Supermarket

I think it's normal that sometimes people want to buy food in British shops...but general complains about food here... Or maybe it's because you all are in the south.

Re: Studying Spanish at Salamanca Uni

I've talked to my friend and I'm afraid she doesn't know much about it. She only said what I'd mentioned earlier. She know of a couple of foreigners who are working in bars, especially students bars...

I think the association would be "oficina del consumidor": http://www.ocu.org/
There's an option that says "Cómo reclamar", but I guess this is mainly used to complain about bills,...

Re: Studying Spanish at Salamanca Uni

I think the language requirements are inversely proportional to the number of jobs. I know many people who have gone to the UK to study/work and as you say even those with basic level of English got...

Re: Asian Supermarket near Malaga?

cricketman!! you're back!!! :)

I totally agree (of course). Here, people don't eat Asian food at home, most of them not even out. I like Chinese every now and then (out, never home) and I don't...
