I think if you can show proof that he had his dabs taken (i.e. a copy of the prints) and an original all clear letter, that should be OK.

CIBC were the only bank that would give us credit and a mortgage when we arrived. The listened to our story and treated us like customers. TD and RBC didn't. I understand that ScotiaB are also...

Iceland has some good deals to and from Glasgow at the moment. Sometimes catch a deal on AC direct to/from Heathrow. Don't go via the US - life's too short.

Your call (of course) - but if I was to do it all over again, I would not bring over any of my electrical goods - unless they were very "high end"/expensive. 'Normal' stuff is cheap as chips over...

Yes, online on ebay no problems. they are big, heavy and ugly tho'.
I would still try and sell your stuff in the UK (if it is not 110-240) and buy new here.

I wouldn't bother bringing it.
The transformer would need to be about 300-400W - and will be about the size of a shoebox and a couple of hundred bucks (I stupidly bought one for a proper espresso...
