If you bank with SABB and have a Premier account there are no transfer charges to any account in the UK. Even if you don't have a Premier account the charges are relatively low.

Just to completely contradict Coffindodger (sorry mate) ... many of the compounds do NOT discriminate against non westerners. Al Hamra and Cordoba have plenty of Arabs, Indians and other Asians...

I live in Al Hamra and work at the British School - if you have kids at the school then Al Hamra is the best place to live. However there is a 2 year waiting list and they say that they won't put any...

As with pretty much anywhere, there is is an Ikea here in Riyadh. They do a couple of cast iron pots - one round and one oval. Not quite La Crueset but do the job as well (at a fraction of the cost)....
