yes, in canada since sept 2012 on a 2 year permit got an application in for ainp certificate, got heavy equipment technician red seal certification, on and off road. went to a compulsary corporate...

lloydminster is quite expensive for rental properties and theres also a shortage, you would just get by on 24 bucks if you get plenty hours in, itll be tight depending how you live, we nearly didnt...

[go out now as some of the others have said on the iec thingy, that way you can be an apprentice in canada, plus you need 6000hours+ experience to even sit the red seal as a foreign worker.

you can work without the red seal as long as you are approved first to challenge the exam by ait alberta, you will have to fill application forms proving verifiable work experience for them to check...
