You are of course perfectly within your rights to have that opinion even if it is wrong

Exactly my point.....but I would suggest less of an expert than those that live there. It works both ways.
The oodles of comparisons you seem compelled to make about the UK versus Australia are therefore questionable or at least less valid than they might appear. |

I have already answered the last time you asked me and as I said then I haven't actually ping ponged at all. To ping pong I would have to dislike where I was and to move to look for something better but every time we have moved is for work or we have moved just because we could. The last time we came here we moved to Brisbane instead of Victoria as it would be an adventure, somewhere we hadn't lived before.
I hope that satisfies your curiosity ;) So will your latest move back to the UK be your first official "pong"? Because by the sounds of things you're not impressed with Australia this time around. |
Re: Why is everyone so serious ?
That's OK, no problem.
Well you could probably say that yes, this will be the first time we have moved through dissatisfaction. I'm not really sure if it's a ping or a pong though ?

Apologies, there were lots of posts yesterday afternoon on this thread. I must have missed that one on page 8.

Reading various posts, it sounds as if Perth has more options at the moment. It would probably be cheaper to fly to Perth, then if it doesn't work out, get a cheap internal flight to Brisbane (think I saw an advert today for $169). Would there be work for you in Brisbane, though, or would it involve moving to Gladstone?
Do you like humid weather, or dry? Another point in Perth's favour: we can get Lincolnshire pork sausages here (bit of a drive, but worth it). No decent pork pies or haslet, though, perhaps you could bring a haslet recipe with you:D. One of my favourite things is nature, lovely green countryside, lovely blue seas, the reasons I am hopeful of getting work in mid Queensland, Britain may have fantastic countrysides but blue seas not to sure about that, I know Queensland is very humid the reasons why it is green, while Perth is dry, Haslet now your showing your age, a thing that I have not eaten for years, if I can find a good recipe I will try to send you it, I read your earlier reply about your visit to Grimsby, I know exactly the area you was stood, that is the quiet area, not too far from that spot is a row of pubs known as the Gazza strip you can imagine the reasons why |

I think both locations have good merits, you are correct in saying that Perth has a number of options for my work skills at the moment, but I have been assured that there is a great deal of work opening up around Gladstone area, I am currently in talks with a couple of potential employers at the moment, so things could be looking interesting,

If the green nature of the bush around you (countryside) is important be careful to check the websites of the national parks nearby where you will be living. Some of Queensland is very ungreen and is still very humid. The ocean is all good though - especially if you live sub Rockhampton and don't have to stay out of the sea (or wear a full stinger suit) between November to April.

Interesting you saying about parts of Queensland not being green, I will have to check the areas better, as for entering the sea, well not really an issue for me, I like the scenery, As you have been to Cleethorpes, the North sea, or the Irish sea are certainly not Blue, and the channel nothing more than an open sewer, with the amount of pollution that's been thrown into it.

Not so long ago raw sewage was pumped into Sydney harbour and still into the Brisbane river. Why, on earth, do you insist it is so different:confused: |
