If you are the typical Brit living abroad in a country that YOU find to have so many faults, it is no wonder the Brits have a bad reputation, if Australia is so bad, why not leave, if I find Australia as bad as what you are making it out to be ,I would do exactly what I am doing now with the UK and leave

Every country has faults....you are painting everything in the UK as bad and wonderful in Australia.

It is not like that....they are very similar in many ways.

Take your rose tints off for a while

Why shouldn't I find fault?

There are plenty of things wrong with this place.

Wait until you actually try living here before you whinge about people posting about their experiences

....and It is not so easy to simply move when you have committments....as many on here will testify.

I hope you find what you are looking for, but I suspect your expectations are completely unrealistic.

All people are saying is the things you are whinging about in the UK are also wrong here. There are a few on here that will only very reluctantly admit to Australia having even the smallest of faults :D I have lived here on and off since 1962 and there are many many things wrong with the country, if I had no choice I could live out my life here and be comfortable but I am under no illusions it is even close to being Utopia and suffers all the issues most other countries do.

I can assure you I am not emigrating to Australia thinking life is going to be a bed of roses, every country has problems, I think in general life is what you make it, if you are not happy with your life you change it. I am not happy living in the UK for many reasons, too many to list here, so I am doing something about it, When I arrive in Australia, if I find it to be as bad as the UK, I can guarantee you I will not be staying put and blaming it on commitments or family.:frown:

people like you amaze me, You emigrate to another country for a better life, because it is NOT what YOU expected you feel that you have every right to criticize the country that has adopted you, YOU quoted you have commitments, I assume family and work, well if Australia is as violent as you say and UK is better, would you not put your family first, if it is down to work, and you are correct you could find work easily in the UK, I think you could be the whinger not me, at least I am doing something about it, and not making excuses

why the heck is everyone getting heated? This blody same argument goes round and round until....let me see.....until a Mod closes the thread cos everyone starts hitting each other with their rattles:rolleyes:

Look this is how it is....

Some people love Aus

Some people hate Aus

Some people love UK

Some people hate UK

Some posters will find people who believe in the above and will wind you up like a coil to bait you into a frenzy:sneaky:

So..... let's accept

Some people love Aus

Some people hate Aus

Some people love UK

Some people hate UK

Some posters will find people who believe in the above and will wind you up like a coil to bait you into a frenzy:sneaky:

And inbetween all of that some people are non plussed and just like where they live....meh.....no big deal to them.....

Ok can everyone be mates now please:thumbup::D

Lets talk about immigration, I know when I arrive in Australia, if I do not work I will not get paid, I will not get free health care, here in the UK as soon as they step of the plane they are giving free house, benefits the lot, if they have children back in their own country they are entitled to more benefits, and because of Blairs idea to open the doors to everyone, the country is now crippled, the once proud NHS is slowly dying, the retirement age has now been increased because they can not afford to pay the pensions. We have faceless unelected EEC bureaucrats ruling us.
The op mentioned about nothing being exported being British made, many of the typically British companys , Rolls Royce, British steel, Cadburys are not British owned, I want to leave the UK not because I hate the country, but because of how it is being run, the country has had it.

little things like please and thank you do seem to be a thing of the past here in the UK,

I think if you read some of the other post who still LIVE in the UK , you will see that a lot of what I am saying is true, or are they all wrong as well, strange how a person living so far away knows more about the UK then people actually living there,
I admit I do not know a great deal about Australia that's why I come on this site, to find out where to look for work, cheap places to live, instead all I get is that I am expecting too much, got news for you I am not expecting anything.

Garry, I admire you for wanting to make changes if you are not happy with your life.
All people are saying is don't be down on the UK for things that may be the same in Australia. It's a 1st world country with crime (including rape and murder), social problems and drugs
If you are lucky you will move to a decent part of Australia and not encounter some of the things that make you angry.

However, your sweeping generalisations of the UK don't ring true to a lot of people who live here.
In the last month I have been in pubs in Weymouth, Birmingham and London and not once did I feel unsafe or feel the need to watch my back.
We are certainly feeling the pinch financially as the cost of living rises but so are people in Australia.

A lot of what you posted is either untrue, Daily mail type exaggeration or likely to occur in all westernised countries.
You say you are unhappy so it appears that you look for external things to blame.

It is cold and wet here today in the UK. it's my biggest bugbear with the UK - lack of a decent summer. Days like this make me dream of some Aussie sunshine :D

Your comments may count for something if you only stopped to actually read what people are saying. Also please don't assume you know why people have moved. Very few are whinging, they are just trying to point out that things are not as black and white as you have continually stated, ie that UK is crap and Aus isn't. There is excellence in both countries. There is also rubbish. You have read a few posts and have made assumptions. You're actually wrong on the vast majority of counts but hey, it's just a discussion board on the internet so it doesn't really matter.
