Please read what I wrote, some moderators give good advice Helen in particular, and a few others, but there are also some that maybe not using those exact words do give the impression anyone moving to Australia are making a big mistake

Just out of interest, if someone told you they were thinking of moving to the UK what impression would you give them?

Bix maybe you are right, little things like please and thank you do seem to be a thing of the past here in the UK, may be small things but they make a big impression, on one or two of my threads that I started maybe I did not say thankyou, my apologises if it is true

Last time I was in the UK was May, I'll be back there next month, and I have friends who work daily in busy NHS hospitals, and other friends who work - as I used to - for the UK police in several areas.
Sorry if you feel I am not amongst those who gives good advice, I must admit to currently wondering why I bother giving anyone advice about living here, having only been here 8 years i don't know what its like, after all, probably need another 20 before I'm qualified to talk about what life is all about.

Now I'd better go and sort out who this new Mod is, only went away for the weekend and apparently someone called helen has joined the ranks.......

But surely you know that Australian A&E departments on the weekend nights are full of people who fell of ladders or hit their thumb with a hammer?

Blimey, just popped out for a quick birthday meal, and find out I've become an undercover mod:huh:. GARRYP1302 and others: I'm just a member like everyone else, wouldn't dare to presume that I have the required expertise to be a mod:ohmy::lol:!

Helen, you have made some very sensible comments not just for me but on other threads, I do appreciate your input, maybe you do not have the required expertise to be a mod, but you have been very helpful, thank you.

mmmmmm......

I have to say that the last 6 pages of this thread have just summed up the reasons why I posted it in the first place. There are one or two logical comments, like the guy who agrees UK is a mess, and has commented on the moderators.

I have to ask who moderates the moderators ?

Admin (Sue) .
If you (or anyone else) has a problem with the moderating of the site I suggest you contact her as per the rules, rather than complaining in threads. Some of us do get a bit hacked off at being publicly attacked after devoting many hours to keeping BE spam-free and troll-free as well as posting endless reams of info based on our lives as expats.
The way I feel after reading the latest pile of abuse fired at me you can have the job now if you want it.

Well your original post was quite 'serious', so the whole thread is a bit odd.

You and Gaz seem to be under the impression the role of the mods is to spruik Australia...where did you get that from??

Who's pointed the abuse at you or even criticised you, I thought this was suppose to be a discussion forum, A person just stated that the UK was a mess, and that much of the advice he got was negative things about Australia, I just happen to agree with him, a lot of people come on here to get advise or to be pointed in the right direction, not to listen to someone else's problems or to be called names because they may have a difference of opinion, you got one moderator on here earlier that stated that she was looking for an argument, what a great attitude.
