Oh I'm resigned to the allergy! Environmentally friendly buildings are not people friendly, I've established that much. They seem to have run out of cash halfway through painting it too, so our whole area - oncluding the kitchen - has bare concrete walls, and everytime anything brushes against them the air fills with dust!! The WH&S rep seems to be off with stress..... 
What got me most today was the quantum leap from allergies to swine flu
Think I threw her with my bags as well - several Asda green bags, but also a Sainsburys coolbag - she peered at the words "Cool Bag" suspiciously - then loaded it with tins, putting the cold stuff in the normal bags
She'll go far that one....with my boot up her backside if I get her serving me again!!

Years of practice mate, Number of allergies I've had in my time I've learnt that life goes on around them, and I never give in to the sniffles; this one is seriously annoying me though, its just constant and I hate taking pills for it all the time. At least with others suffering as well maybe they will have to do something about the dust at least

Ah the delights of the inane chatter at Aussie checkouts.....I've had a really severe allergy ever since I got back here 2 weeks ago, I'm allergic to the air con and chemicals in the air at work and haven't stopped sneezing since my first shift back, so there I am today, still sneezing in the checkout queue.....
Coles checkout girl with dippy inane accent, to man in front of me: "How was your day?"
Man (looking harrassed, fed up and ready to murder someone) "Bloody dreadful"
Checkout girl "Thats nice, mine was great too"
Man gives her stunned look and leaves.......
Coles checkout girl with dippy inane accent, to me: "How was your day?"
Me (looking incredulous and thinking I'll see if she listens to me if not him!): "Bloody dreadful"
Checkout girl: "Oh you're sneezing"

Reminds me of the time in coles when i was buying tampax for the ex and the checkout girl was like "oh my boyfriend wouldn't be brave enough to buy my tampax for me" .I then went on to convince her i suffered from terrible nose bleeds and the tampax were in fact for me.She thought it was a wonderful idea,and so easy to remove with the wee string
must try that with our Writer, she's not nicknamed Albert for nothing

I shall look out for her next time and see if she has a string hanging from her nose, she might decide it would keep the swine flu germs out

So here I am, end of an era in Real Life, (well end of a good three years anyway!) ....as of Monday there are three people on shift; end of solo shifts, peace, tranquility, use of the sound system for music, walking round in socks, keeping the lights down low and enjoying work........
The 6 of us have all developed our own ways of working productively, be it with music & low-lights, full lights and trash TV in the background, whatever works for each of us, we've single-handedly managed disasters throughout the State and in the office (how many times can one printer jam?!) and I have loved (almost) every minute.
It was always too good to last, I've never loved a job as much as this one, never given so much of myself to a job either, and I can't help thinking that this isn't the right way forward, but then its not my place to question it......I just have to make the best of the new regime. We shall wait and see what next week brings.......
I shall go out on a playing of The Wall over the sound system at a volume that should drown out the noise of the rain and the roadworks!

other people buggering up a perfectly good routine annoys me too. generally it's every change of HOD and we've got an XO joining in Sep and she's bound to want to change everything at least once a month
