Australia is listed on the current Pacific Warning Centre bulletins. These are NOT official bulletins for Australia. Any official warning for here will come from the BoM.

It's a new building, quake proof etc (yawn) so sure we're safe here, but Mrs E is stranded in central Tokyo....

I need to lose a bit of weight by Monday/Tuesday anyway (as medical for work scheduled). ****, here we go again with the shakes..

bugger, hope she gets back safely. by the sounds of it the aftershocks are pretty bloody strong too.

work medical? when did you join up

as long as you can pass your fitness test and are not obviously, massively obese we don't care.

we do have the pot kettle comms check syndrome though Being asked about your diet etc by an overweight, bursting out of her uniform Doc who blatantly couldn't pass a fitness test in a month of sundays does get on my wick

Here if you're more than a couple of kilos overweight y'get classed as obese by these perfectionists, am required for my job to have yearly medicals - at late 40s prolly a good thing.

Dunno if ppl in the centre should stay put til these aftershocks cease, long walk home with potentially large items like signs, window panes falling on you.

I've just heard about the earthquake. I hope you're okay, Expatasia. I just had a bit of a panic myself because my dad is in the Philipines but I wasn't sure where so phoned him to make sure he's on high land - thankfully he is <phew>. Anyway, stay safe.

Tricky one to call, I guess the buildings in the centre are quake-proof so might be safer staying put.

Still no sign of Mrs E and it's 10pm - she is supposed to be walking home with colleagues who live in our suburb but cell phones still don't work...

Aftershocks continuing as I type, my dad has phoned but we got cut off.

I guess there's a fair bit of debris in the streets, even with quake proof buildings...... she's just having to make detours etc.
