Also irritating are people who open up a bracket (and then never get around to closing it so I have to scan back up through the rest of the paragraph to confirm whether or not I accidentally missed the closing of the bracket, which is annoying because for whatever reason I always read whatever is written inside a pair of brackets with a slightly different inner voice.

I do that sometimes. I intend to indicate a pause, time for what I said to sink in. Most, the very large majority, probably 90%+, of the ".....'s" I type initially, I go back and replace with a paragraph break before I hit the Submit Reply button.

Spare tyres with covers on the back of cars. Put the bloody cover on straight, how hard is it to have the logo/name straight? Agggghhhh.

It's not even a first world problem, it's just a peeve that makes me slightly (more) irrational.:p

Like a short bed pickup truck with "High performance tires" AKA skinny little POS's not suitable for a pickup truck function.:sneaky:

I don't mind it sometimes, an ellipsis is appropriate to indicate a trailing off rather than a full stop. The peeve is with people who type the whole post that way.

It's not the ellipsis itself that is the problem in the example you provided anyway, it's the misuse of it.

Arsebook was a treasure trove of shite this morning. From the mass panic that for the first time in its 4.6 billion year history, the earth has long since passed the autumnal equinox in its orbit and it might get a bit cold within the next six weeks, all the way through people who think the month in which they were born defines their personalities and the unbelievable revelation that someone might see a Christmas light (imagine the horror), all the way to climate change deniers on a pro-science/pro-vax type of a page I follow.

These are the ****ing times we live in. **** me sideways.

You seem a bit tense so early in the week? Not enough coffee? ..... Or too much?

I don't drink coffee.

Too many twats and not enough time. Your ellipsis had too many dots, by the way ...

Quick question how can a page be pro-science AND Anti-vax?

Ok so pro-science and pro-vax. I get it now. One of my pro-vax pages has gone off on a weird tangent of baiting flat earthers

Do you think that would have been easier for me to say?

Everyone needs a hobby.

This one was truly cringe inducing. When I found the page initialy I thought 'finally a community that is sensible about immunisations, aren't batshit crazy scared of GMO crops and support nuclear energy as a valid source of clean power generation.' Nope - post after post of people criticizing Bill Nye and saying that anthropogenic climate change is not happening.

There is no sanctuary from the ignorant.
