My wife's granny is one of those. If you ever find yourself near Sun City West and get stuck behind someone with Wisconsin plates, I hope it's not her. If it is, I'm sure she's sorry :D
Edit - do people from Phoenix actually refer to themselves as Phoenicians? I hope they do. |

They do but then my kindle tried to autocorrect it. There is the Phoenician resort just near me, very fancy.
Actually, if you believe some stories, actual Phoenicians may have mined a bunch of copper in Michigan once upon a time. Maybe they went to what would later become Phoenix too. Mind blown ... |

About this time of year all the snowbirds come into town. Not that phonecians are good drivers to start with but now all the old out of state drivers make it worse.
Round here they just pass through, then they come back through headed north around six months from now. It's another thing I like about here: winters are fairly mild, but not mild enough to attract roosting snowbirds. |

Didn't notice an auto correct. I think it's quite funny that the inhabitants of a landlocked desert city are referred to by the name of a great seafaring civilization.

It's normally always better to buy sea food near to the sea.

I know, that's what worries me. I know a few places where I would trust to get seafood because I know they fly it in daily. The others, I'm not so sure about.
Not only do I have a good chuckle at the telly adverts who claim 'fresh fish', when the haul can spend at least a good few days in the hold packed in ice before it is even landed but if you ever fancy a stomach churning experience you want to see if the skipper will give you access to his hold when the boat is in port and 'cleaned' out 'ready' for sea!!! |
Re: Pet Peeves?
People are so stuck up about frozen meat and seafood. I guess it comes from when they try to defrost giant balls of meat like a turkey, and get food poisoning. Most seafood has been frozen and thawed before you buy it "fresh" anyway.

People have to know that large-scale fishing boats don't just come back to port at the end of the day and offload, right, that they fill their tanks first? Surely everyone's seen at least one episode of Deadliest Catch  |

The way I look at it is, it was fresh when it was frozen so it's still fresh when I defrost it.
Goes for fruit and veg, too. Especially berries, which generally seem perfectly ripe after defrosting. + Greek yoghurt, mmm... |
