That's what led me to think it was the pub that was spreadable, rather than the cheese.

Had someone try to tell me that cheddar cheese was an American invention. I almost whisked them off to Somerset to apologise, but squeezy cheese I would wager, is indeed an American abomination.

Are you thinking of spray cheese?

When I think of squeezy cheese, I think of Primula, which is Norwegian, isn't it?

Is nacho cheese an actual type of cheese or just an application?

It's cheese that belongs to someone else.

Yes, I have my vile cheeses mixed up. Cheez Wizz was what I was thinking of, which is certainly not real cheese, hence the 'Cheez' spelling.

The wikipedia entry is a treat, "Unlike many European cheeses or certain Mexican cheeses, "nacho cheese" bears no geographical indication or other regulated guarantee of ingredients, process, or quality, beyond the general legal definition for cheese products as established by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration"

I think we can agree that the FDA have loose standards when it comes to cheese.

Primula's not vile.

Cheez Wizz is fine as long as you go into the arrangement knowing it is really just yellow plastic that is vaguely reminiscent of some kind of cheesy by-product.

That can be said of most cheese in America.

Also true.

I have found Kerrygold Cheddar in the shops though, that usually hits the spot. In general though, once I got over my initial disappointment, I grew to like American cheese as a variety in its own right. They'll never make cheese as well as they do in Europe, but that's OK.

Big fan of the Cabot cheeses, they generally do good work. You know, for an American cheese.

Cabot extra sharp is good.

Cheez is also good. It's spackle for crackers. :)

It is labled more honestly in the UK though! :sneaky:
