Re: Let's talk about cars
As my main interests are cars (necessity, hobby, business) I'm trying to decide if I have the time to read this thread in its entirety.
Anyone got any bullet points?
So far I've managed to glean that the MX5 is still known asa hairdressers car. I agree... but it's a damn fun drive as well.
And that I still have no real interest in having to sit 45 mins at a power outlet to wait until I can continue my journey.

Oye, the Aztec. True story; when they unveiled the Aztec for the media etc., the audience was pretty much stunned by its absolute ugliness and the question was asked, "Are you serious?" The design was slammed by pretty much every automotive journalist, and the public, and yet GM refused to back off and launched it anyway. It was, IMHO, one GM vehicle whose ugliness actually slightly exceeded its unreliability. But it was a close call.

He who depends on his wife for his choice of vehicle deserves all that's coming to him! Given my "choice" of Accord, I know what I'm talking about.

That might be the only car that can make the Aztec look good.
Just kidding, but I do find it odd looking.

That said, I don't think I've ever floored my Mustang GT which has 260hp, and my licence would be in jeopardy after no more than about 8 seconds if I did.

That's 260HP at max RPM anyway - even if you were flooring it, would you actually be redlining it as well?

Re: Let's talk about cars
But just fyi, my 22 year old (150bhp) Honda does 65mph in second gear (in less than 7secs) so it's not really a big deal.
Our RL (which weighs more than most British homes) is even more capable.
I always used to think that the big American cars were a bit pointless but since driving in the US I can see the appeal.
My usual UK cars wouldn't be nice on a long highway cruise and the big US cars would be horrible on my local UK back lanes.
Something about horses and courses (not in the beef substitute way).
