If the sponsors aren't going to use the seats, can't they donate them, or give them back to the organisation to be sold to the public?

Can this controversial incident be anyway classed as cheating or using the format to gain an advantage???

The guy involved in that particular incident learnt english just a few years ago and has already come out and said he misunderstood the questioning.

That's exacty why people are so annoyed about it though. The huge importance given to corporate sponsorship is sickening anyway but to see the seats granted to those sponsors empty, when so many people applied for tickets and didn't get them.

I understand that many of those allocated tickets including Olympic officials have seats covering events that take place simultaneously and therefore could not use them all themselves and obviously did not intend using them themselves anyway.
The crackdown on spivs by London cops and others to prevent black market activities has caught them in an embarrassing situation to which they may not wish to openly admit, so sadly some of them will remain stashed out of sight unused.
I have been quite impressed with some of the tasteful and appropriate locations for events away from the main area.
They showcased the UK really well during TV filming.

I saw the initial interview and nothing of the sort was said, so not sure about subsequent interviews. Seems it was quite innocent, but who knows? They were talking to to Cavendish about him not riding and he said something like he wasn't qualified somehow, but a French guy was similarly unqualified but he was there racing.

The issue was that Philip Hindes apparently admitted to falling on purpose and said it was planned, I saw the clip on TV this morning and it seems to me that he just didn't understand what he was being asked, he simply started talking.

'''We were saying if we have a bad start, we need to crash to get a restart. I just crashed, I did it on purpose to get a restart, just to have the fastest ride. I did it. So it was all planned, really.'

Anyway, its been investigated and they have decided there is nothing in it. That won't make you happy, no doubt the IOC and the cycling governing bodies have colluded to make sure the team that not only beat anyone one else but also the world record wins! The shame of it!

Sorry, I don't understand, are you agreeing or disagreeing?

"There was no cheating. The British team was much stronger than the French team and I congratulate them on their success.
As I write that's another world record gone in the team pursuit!

I'm saying in the interview I saw nothing was said, but I don't know about the subsequent interviews. It seems weird to me that even if it was intentional that he would admit it. Why would he do that? The important thing is the officials didn't have a problem with it and the French coach said,
"There was no cheating. The British team was much stronger than the French team and I congratulate them on their success.
As I write that's another world record gone in the team pursuit!
