Re: Gibraltar
Well lets have a Federal Europe where everyone has the same days off.
How would you feel about that ???
I sympathise with you Andy, I have quotes I cannot do because the factory in Belgium is closed.
But these are things you should take into account before deciding to re locate your business.

Liberal International reiterates that the future of Gibraltar must be freely and democratically decided by the people of Gibraltar. LI welcomes that Member Party, Liberal Party of Gibraltar, is a part of the National Government. Liberal International urges the Government of Spain to return to the Trilateral Forum for Dialogue and calls for an end to the current campaign of coercion and economic sanctions against Gibraltar

As an example, A large number of Italian MPs, chosen "Democratically" by the party are also EU MPs including Berlusca, So they can get 2 salaries and great expense claims. They also perform really well in both roles at the same time....Busy doing nothing!!

Re: Gibraltar
Are you saying that the UKIP MEPS, in fact all MEPS are " over paid and busy doing nothing ".
I boycott the European elections ( as does the majority of the UK electorate ) because they are meaningless apart from the self serving few who benefit.

Re: Gibraltar
MEPS are not the EU, they have little f any influence on the EU.
They are just a PR attempt to make it appear to the electorate that we have some influence on what happens in the EU.

Re: Gibraltar
At least we do not have any UKIP loonies in parliament, because they would not get elected.
The transferable vote system used in the European elections is the only way UKIP could ever hope to get any MEPs.

Re: Gibraltar
None of us in th UK voted for the system used to elect MEP,s.
Using you line of thinking, non UK residents with no right to vote in UK elections also have NO right to comment on UK affairs.

Re: Gibraltar
Tobacco trade being driven mainly by Spanish nationals
Again the tobacco problem is in the news; and again it is the anti-social behaviour that accompanies this issue that troubles people the most. And yet again people are asking the same question we’ve heard many times before, questions like:
Why has the tobacco or cigarette problem reached where it is now? Why is this trade so important for the Gibraltar’s economy? How much does tobacco sales plough into Gibraltar’s public bank account? And why has nothing decisive ever been done to effectively control or even eliminate the problem?
The trade in cigarettes between Gibraltar and Spain is now a well-known fact. Another important factor regarding the tobacco trade, is that it’s being driven by Spanish nationals who cannot find work in a deprived and forgotten area of Spain where unemployment soars over 50%.

Re: Gibraltar
Gib could solve the problem and raise prices to the same as Spain and increase is customs checks.
That would remove one of the areas of complaint from Spain.

Re: Gibraltar
Why should they
Should Spain put up their booze and ciggies prices and stop the Brits spending money there!
