Rajoy confident there'll be no more incidents at sea, but...

The Spanish Prime Minister, Mariano Rajoy, has expressed confidence that there will be no repetition of incidents at sea between the Royal Navy and the Guardia Civil. Mr Rajoy noted, however, that the UK and Spain have different ways of seeing things, and said this sometimes gives rise to incidents of the kind that occurred this week in British Gibraltar Territorial Waters involving a Spanish survey vessel.

Nevertheless, he claimed that relations between both countries are "excellent" at the levels of Government, citizens and Prime Minister. Last month, in his evidence to the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Commons, Chief Minister Fabian Picardo urged UK Ministers to reject Spanish assertions that the Anglo-Spanish relationship is excellent while Madrid continues to bully and harrass Gibraltar.

Andy, I suppose you could be up very early but I suspect it is more likely you are just off to bed.

so does that mean he will instruct the relevant minister to rein in the GC ?
but who is going to rein in the Armada, as GC are not alone in the actions, as actions are not just land based.

Andy, most politicians come from the same or similar clone factory.
Killing Rajoy would not stop certain events, they probably wouldn't slow them down, and as in the case of the assassination of the Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand could lead to far more serious consequences.

Far better to do what others do - find truely scandalous material on an individual and have him/her removed from the scene. Although you can never be sure how much they are still pulling the strings when they are "gone".

Commission declines to reveal letter to Spain

The European Commission have refused to publish a follow-up letter they sent to Spain where it is said they urged the Madrid “to improve the situation of persons crossing the border on a daily basis.”

Gibraltar Liberal Democrat MEP Sir Graham Watson, a consistant supporter of Gibrlatar, is appealing the European Commissions decision.

In his letter Mr Manservisi said: “disclosure of the requested document would undermine the protection of the purpose of the on-going investigation; indeed, disclosure of the document at this point in time would affect the climate of mutual trust between the authorities of the involved Member State and the Commission, which is required to enable them to resolve the case without having to refer it to the Court of Justice.”

Well I can inform Mr Manervisi that I have no trust in the Commission or the EU in it's present guise. I also suspect I am not alone in this.

As I recall they did find such material on Rajoy not so long ago.

However Spain being Spain it was just another common everyday occurrence and soon swept under the carpet and quickly forgotten.

Any further suggestions, other than trying to do a Guy Fawkes job on the whole damned parliament and starting all over again with a clean sheet,....if such a thing exists of course in this country ?

does it exist in any country
those who clamored for democracy and freedom back in the post war years, have ended up with one man, one party states - and generally a worse situation than they had under the rule imposed by UK, France, etc.

generally it doesn't really make things any difference to the peasants here or in the UK or any other country. They still have their toil whilst the land owners and those who they appoint to manage for them keep all the money in their pockets, getting themselves appointed to Parliament by their friends.

Perhaps The Vote should revert to only landowners having a vote - that would alter things greatly in the housing market.
Or would it ? Are people really that interested ??

Maybe the Mafia would be better, at least it's straightforward in your face and their legal system is very quick and cheap.
Strayed a bit from the Gib topic.....
