Austria, One of the most corrupt countries I have ever worked in and there have been a few. Back in the mid 90s it was really bad, I have heard that there are still ongoing court cases against some of the people I was acquainted with then.

RGP: no change in position regarding Spanish fishermen
The Royal Gibraltar Police says there’s no change in its position regarding Spanish fishermen in Gibraltar waters and that it continues to police the waters as it’s always done. This follows claims from Fishermen in La Linea that they are no longer being stopped from fishing by the RGP. The fishermen are however highlighting problems with contamination in the area, saying the situation is now unsustainable.
At the same time as some of the fishermen claim the situation with Gibraltar has eased, they are now confronted with contamination in the area, which they say is causing the sector serious difficulties. The extent of these difficulties has been put to the representative for fishing in the Andalusian Parliament. During a visit to La Linea by the politician, Jose Manuel Martinez Malia, the President of the La Linea Fishing Guild, Juan Manuel Morente said the fishermen had now been unable to fish for over 100 days, with the fishing site in la Atunara closed for almost a year. The fishermen, he says, are reporting a serious loss of income, with measures to counteract the problems not having proved successful. The Guild says it’s sinking deeper into debt and now owes over 200 thousand euros, which means it’s unable to pay suppliers and bills.
The Fishing Guild says it can’t emphasise the seriousness of the situation and that no help it receives will be enough

TENDER FOR THE SUPPLY OF ROCKS
Nature and quantity of Goods to be supplied – Rocks
for construction ( 55,000 tonnes )
https://www.gibraltar.gov.gi/images/...014/9-2014.pdf
Google Translation
Since the Spanish government banned rock crossing the Gate, the ' yanito ' Executive introduced not by land but by sea, as it has done previously.
The provider may not be the rocks a Spanish company by the same restrictions. Any company other than Spanish may apply for this contract, which only puts conditions as the winner delivers the entire batch .
http://www.europasur.es/article/gibr...as/piedra.html
I see nothing in the tender document that stops a Spanish company from bidding, therefore it must be the Spanish Government that is preventing this![Smile](https://britishexpats.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
In fact it would be illegal under EU law for Gibraltar to do so![ROFL](https://britishexpats.com/forum/images/smilies/rofl.gif)

Government wins Airport Access Tunnel claim against OHL
The High Court of Justice of England and Wales has today ordered that OHL, the company whose contract was terminated in 2011 by the previous GSD Government, now pay the Government the completion costs of the project, the largest claim for damages in Gibraltar’s history.
The judgement delivered by Mr Justice Ackenhead at the High Court of Justice rules that the Gibraltar Government was correct in the way it terminated the Contract with OHL in the summer of 2011. It is now entitled to recover all costs associated with the termination and completion costs of the project, over and above OHL’s original contract price. The price at tender was just over £30 million.
Further legal hearings are now expected to determine the exact amount which OHL will have to pay, but it could be up to an extra £60 million, plus damages. The Government is also looking to recover its substantial legal costs.

Well it wasn't the grottiest place I've stayed in Spain, but not really a lot to it that couldn't be covered in a week and often badly affected by the prevailing Easterly winds carrying endless clouds of fine dust and sand.

Gibraltar fire disrupts online gambling industry
An explosion and fire on Gibraltar disrupted a number of online betting operations on Sunday.
Most residents of the British territory were also left without power. We were out for 5 hours
Local media reported a generator at Waterport Power Station caught fire and exploded due to a mechanical failure.
No-one was injured, but the outage shut down the online betting operations of several firms, including William Hill, Betfred and Ladbrokes, which are based in Gibraltar.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-27098178
Not sure about the gambling businesses being shut down ,they all have emergency standby generators.
William Hills however were evacuated due to their proximity to the fire.
