My oh has done something like this - changing career and starting an apprenticeship. (He started a plumbing apprenticeship in Nov 2008, after doing a pre-apprenticeship in the 1st half of 2008).

PS the above quotes were from our 176 visa (granted Aug 2008).

However the same applies for 175 visas and most other similar visas as I found from my trawling though the legalese of the migration...

Yes, probably the 3 days requirment is to make it highly probably that during one of those three days your case officer remembers to send the grant email, and isn't unexpectedly off work or anything...

You could just get a friend or relative in UK to fax a reference letter direct to the agent. Just make sure surnames don't match and that your friend/relative can answer a follow up reference...
