Re: Fellow Brits, please talk me OUT of Seattle.

There aren't many in NA that do give change, they all use some sort of exact change farebox.

Seattle you really have to live on a transport corridor as it was always a bus city. Unfortunately...

Re: Irvine, California?

Not really - UC Irvine is the most conservative of the UC institutions so it's really more of just a reflection of the OC conservatism.

The least insular of the communities around Irvine are in...

Re: UK lawyer transferring to US

It sounds like you're in an AmLaw 100 firm and they don't have blanket petitions. Occasionally they will transfer across lawyers for secondments but it is very rare that they use a blanket petition....

Re: H1B to Green Card

I think the poster was talking about the entire process, not just waiting for DOL approval.

And yes it can take quite a period especially if anyone at the company drags their feet along the way.

Re: E-3 Visa for Australians Thread- It's all in here

This is one area where the E-3 is different to the H-1B. There can only be one outstanding E-3, so when a new one is issued the old one is automatically cancelled. That has always been an issue for...

Re: E-3 Visa for Australians Thread- It's all in here

There is, however, this warning on the Canadian consulate sites relating to the E-3. Anecdotal evidence also suggests that new E-3's are becoming harder to obtain, greater scrutiny of the labor...

Re: E-3 Visa for Australians Thread- It's all in here

They are much stricter now. I have had two friends recently who both had their E-3s applications rejected on the basis that there was insufficient nexus between their degree and their LCA. Unless...

Re: Government shut down

Depends where you are in the process. USCIS says they are not affected per their website. However, DOL is per theirs. If you've already submitted to USCIS the indications are that your case will...

Re: Congress and changes to USA immigration/sponsorship etc

I think you misunderstood what the 10 year B1/B2 gives you. It is valid for ten years with a maximum stay each time of six months.

Re: Visa for confirmed internship

Actually the theatre company doesn't get involved in the application. It is likely that they just didn't inquire about visa status. A lot of internships will take on J-1's and then it is up to the...

Re: Confused?

You can get H-1B for bar management, especially if it is an upper end bar because it is a hospitality management occupation. As for a pet shop, unless it is some sort of clinical position that would...

Re: Roundabouts in the US

Are they replacing lighted intersections or the four way stop sign? Let's hope with the American experience on four way stop signs they use the roundabouts better than most other countries who seem...

Re: Confused?

(3) is not quite correct, the applications can close once the cap is met but to the extent that there are more applications than the cap once applications are closed, then there is a lottery.

Re: Vaccinations

The immigration medical is $200 - $250 in the US which includes a TB/Hep B/HIV titer. I understand each additional titer is only $50 (each antibody is an additional titer). The vaccinations are...

Re: Vaccinations

Technically you don't need your medical records either. Given that you will need to do a blood serum for TB they can include blood serum for the required vaccinations, if your blood serum shows up...

Re: Disaster. Lost passports and visas

If you wanted to be 100% correct it should be an Embassy or Consulate of the United States that will process the visa type and for non-residents.

Orange County also went through Chapter 9 in the mid 90's and Jefferson County in Alabama is also currently in Chapter 9.

Re: E-3 Visa for Australians Thread- It's all in here

Bahamas won't process visas unless you are a Bahamian resident and Canada has about a six week wait for appointments.

Re: E-3 Visa for Australians Thread- It's all in here

It appears that Nassau is back to processing e-3s which is handy. They still have collection for non-residents which is the best part about Nassau.

If you are worried about first-time processing...

Even with a car doing those places is going to be a bit of a wreck given that they are along the busiest traffic corridors in LA.

There is a metro but it is hub and spoked around downtown. ...

Re: E3 visa living with family in California.

Isn't it a bit too soon to be the cart before the horse. It would appear the OP hasn't even found a job posting let alone a willing sponsor.
