I have just built the two single beds we brought over from the UK for my two sons who are visiting this summer, we did not bring the mattresses as we though we would get new ones over here.

But can I find a mattress to fit!!? There are single beds and I just need a 3ft by 6ft mattress but can't find any that size, nearest I have found is a 37 and 3/8" from Ikea but that will be over the sides of the beds.

Anyone offer any advice or help? Don't want to pay for custom made. Just wish we had bought them in UK before leaving.

Buy new beds.

All US beds and bedding are different sizes. We are ditching our bed here and buying a new one there - easier than shipping our current one then having to buy fresh bedding ever time we are back in the UK as we cannot buy it there.

You can get custom made matresses from The Original Mattress Company, and making custom mattresses for caravans, boats, cots, etc. is a significant part of their business so they are not outrageously expensive. We had them make a sprung seat pad (mattress) for our fireplace raised hearth, so it can be used as a low seat by children (when the fire isn't bejng used!)

Mrs P and I have an OMC mattress on our bed. It is reasonably comfortable and supportive, though not as comfortable as the previous mattress we bought, but then the OMC mattress was only about a third the price!

A bit of internet research would have sorted that out for you before you moved.. Remember everything is bigger in the US..

Apart from pints, quarts, and gallons! ..... And US tons are most definitely short.

You can get metal bed frames from Target or the like, incl online, for quite reasonable prices.

So then the OP will have his British beds, and some American metal bed frames, but still no mattresses.

She said she can't find American mattresses to fit her British beds. I'm suggesting it might be cheaper to buy cheap bedframes and OTS mattresses than getting custom mattresses made.
