Hello,
Just wondering if anyone had any knowledge of how the potential government shut down at the end of the month could affect processing times for immigration cases? I have an AOS pending, also still waiting for my EAD and AP, and wasn't sure if it could all be delayed if the government does shut down. Would the immigration offices be affected? Thanks in advance for any input!

Don't borrow trouble.
Honestly, just don't. Nobody really knows how things are going to shake out until they do.

I'll try not to think about it
Was just curious

Notionally, immigration services are funded by the application fees, not by US taxpayers.

As noted above though, there is no point worrying about it.

I went through the 94 & 95 shutdowns. Yes, the Immigration Agencies were affected.

Thanks for the replies, I suppose I should just be patient and see what happens!

It doesn't look like the government shutdown is affecting USCIS: http://www.theguardian.com/world/201...vices-affected
It says green card card applications will continue to be processed, which I'm happy to hear as I have the first part (I 140) in for mine!

Depends where you are in the process. USCIS says they are not affected per their website. However, DOL is per theirs. If you've already submitted to USCIS the indications are that your case will progress at the same pace as before.

A pal of mine on an I-130, his sponsor filed Oct. 2012, the processing time then was around 14 months, now it has increased to 20.8 months.

There's no such thing as "on an I-130". What do you really mean?
Filed what on Oct. 2012?

Well, our Son got confirmation yesterday that his AOS package has been accepted for processing so it seems the Government shut down hasn't affected the Visa/immigration services!

Really? Wow that's news to me.
It hasn't been mentioned every second of every newscast every day since.
That statement is gobbledygook.
