No. It was filed September 11 2013 and approved April 10 2014. 7 months.

I think the poster was talking about the entire process, not just waiting for DOL approval.

And yes it can take quite a period especially if anyone at the company drags their feet along the way.

I think his point of reference was the bit that said: "01/02/13 PERM Process Started." What PERM-related activities were happening for 8 months between the PERM process starting, and the PERM filing?

I'm afraid a bit as I potentially will go thru eb2 and the company might not be a friendly as I hope they should be.

Aside from the regular kind of delays in filling out forms and waiting for stuff to be sent from UK, the lawyers wanted to get everything ready that would be needed at I-140 filing time before they did anything else. So we had to get letters from previous employers etc verifying experience/qualifications/skills etc. The company who initially applied for H visa that got us over here were VERY uncooperative so that caused delays.
Also Jan 2 was the date the company formally contacted lawyers to start process as they would not do it any sooner.
