Re: What next in the visa process?!!

I am a dual UK NZ citizen and went the 189 NZ stream route as I was previously on a 444 and wife on a 461 visa. Managed to get my wife's younger daughter now aged 17 and our son now aged 7 (born in...

Wife pregnant on 461 visa

Just found out in the last few days from my wife that she is pregnant. I don't post here that often but I would just like some opinions of my options.

Here's our situation.

I am a dual...

Re: UK/NZ citizen wanting to bring filipina girlfriend to Australia

How would the situation change if we got married on her upcoming visit to Australia? Is there still a 12 month living together requirement. Otherwise I can see a lot more holidays for me in SE Asia...

UK/NZ citizen wanting to bring filipina girlfriend to Australia

A long time since I visited this forum but I wanted to know if anyone has experience of this. I know I need either to get Australian PR (which I should be able to get given my circumstances) or get a...

Re: Electrical Design Engineer - Gold Coast, Qld

I think it would be great if you could get all of that experience in one person. Where I work it is shared between four people.

Good luck finding someone.

Re: Mount Isa

I would advise you to take a trip and see for yourself. I spent a few days there last year. It is a fully functioning town but the next biggest town (Townsville) is 1000km away.

Someone I spoke to...

Re: Average Wage. How many people DON'T Earn it?

He was worth every penny at $850. He did seem to know his stuff, even the thing about buying a 1 tonne capacity ute (which I didn't buy) to maximise the tax benefits on a vehicle. I think he is a...

Re: NZ to NY

Air Tahiti Nui used to do it. Maybe they still do. I do understand that they were hovering on the edge of bankruptcy recently. If they still do you also get a free holiday in Tahiti. The flights are...

Re: Average Wage. How many people DON'T Earn it?

If you say so.

All I know is that last tax year I earned $40000 in salary and paid $9000 in tax and $40000 self employed and paid NO tax and NO GST.

I could claim all the things I use for work...

Re: Average Wage. How many people DON'T Earn it?

I don't agree. I worked as a contractor from March to June this year and got all my GST back and paid no tax at all thanks to the investment allowance and doing all my mileage on business for a 3...

Re: Anyone had any leads in Railway/Signalling avenue?

I knew someone who worked on the engineering side of railways in Victoria. He said the signalling people viewed themselves as a cut above the rest, freemasonry was rife and was pretty much a closed...

Re: Please answer Important Questions?

If you want to scrounge the Welfare System in Oz straight after arriving then you need to be on a refugee visa, otherwise it is a 2 year wait for unemployment benefit.

Re: Here comes Kevin Rudd with more bad news

There's a Franklins in town that I never knew about. Also ALDI are about 45kms away but hardly handy for the quick purchase. NSW is better than Gladstone though for competition but the prices are...

Re: Here comes Kevin Rudd with more bad news

A bit more supermarket competition would be nice rather than just Wollworths and Coles.

As an engineer I like the idea of more infrastructure projects but I am hesitatant about whether any of the...

Re: Support from Australian government for the new immigrants

Quite a few recent PRs I worked with in Gladstone had the same attitude as the OP to this thread. One of them whose attitude and work performance was so bad was told that he should get to know where...

Re: More baseless property ramping

Thanks for the info.

Got to agree with the next poster though. If less of a tax incentive to make a loss, and rewarding failure rather than success, then lower house prices could result.

When...

Re: More baseless property ramping

As someone who is renting, the rent is always too high. Others may disagree.

Someone at work says that people are willing to accept losses in the first 10 or so years just to make money on the...

Re: More baseless property ramping

I have noticed a trend in the Hunter Valley where the properties have been bought to rent. The same estate agent who sells the property ends up also being the rental agent.

Not only that but the...

Re: unemployment worries

I have heard this term used by the people who maintain the draglines during shutdowns. I think they do all the non-skilled work for the electricians and the mechanics. Can't tell you more I'm afraid....

Re: House Prices Keep Tumbling in Aus

I was being a metaphorical about the state of the UK. Restricting supply of houses will be the only reason why the why the prices go up. You have to ask yourself where the money to pay for this is...

Re: House Prices Keep Tumbling in Aus

Re: House Prices Keep Tumbling in Aus

I am a first time buyer and in this area, the Hunter Valley, it is one of the first questions they ask if you are a first time buyer. You get a quick response from the agents when you make a query so...
