Re: What's the worst advice you have taken away from B.E

Well I got some bad advice (not sure if it was from here or elsewhere) to avoid meeting up with expats coz it would hamper 'assimilation' with the locals. I stupidly took that advice but I've found...

Re: Reciprocal medicare for visitors?

Yes indeed! My parents were here a few years ago, Dad collapsed in church and was taken to hospital. They kept him in for five days, did all sorts of tests and wouldn't discharge him until they were...

Re: Soooooo....we're off again....

Ooh, that's encouraging! We kind of hope we'll love it that much too. Australia hasn't been what I'd hoped (the husband loves it) but if nothing else some time away will be good to get some...

Re: Soooooo....we're off again....

Well exactly, we would never have dreamed of this kind of opportunity when we lived in Bromley (!) so it seems rude not to jump in with both feet. Will miss my little niece and nephew terribly but I...

Re: Soooooo....we're off again....

Cheers Steve! Part of me is quietly cacking it and dreading the constant sweating but something needs to change and this opportunity popped up at just the right time, sure we'll give it a bash!...

Re: Australian accent thread 1001

Re: Is it all about Location? Or am I being silly?

Location is definitely a big part of it. We were in Glebe in Sydney which we loved but the rent was too much, we weren't saving anything so we moved to Jannali, near Sutherland. The house is lovely,...

Re: Sydney Cost of Living and Advice Please

Water might also be included in your rental. It wasn't in our first place (but was very little a quarter), it is in our current place. I think the norm is for it to be included...
