Default Aussie Christmas traditions

Do you have any new Christmas traditions since you have arrived in Aus?
I'm determined not to try and replicate a UK Christmas.

I'm looking forward to carols by candlelight. Any others?

Have you done the Christmas light tours around the suburbs.....each house trying to out-do the other.

My first thought was does Caroline's hubby know she refers to him as the turkey?

Our biggest change in Christmas traditions is the complete lack of argument over which relatives will be visited on which day

Now, I can put me snuggie on once Himself finishes for Christmas and not worry about taking it off again until he goes back.

(Although admittedly it's a bit smelly by then )

Oh YES...we do that... There's a road round here that is famous, all of the residents make a massive effort and Christmas eve they sit outside handing out lollies.... Hundresd of people park up and walk the avenue...

Start off at the foreshore .... For a get together with family/friends on Christmas eve... We do the massive seafood feast and Barbie... Drive round to see the lights... Then it's traditional English for the day itself..apart from heading down to the Indian ocean for a swim late afternoon..... Complete with collapse able Christmas tree and a few beers.....

I enjoyed the 9pm fireworks at the fleet review but there was a lot of waiting around, I didn't fancy doing it again for New Year.
My stepdaughter is keen to do it though.

For me Christmas is the same whatever country you are in - it's about being with your family and friends and having a good time

One of the only unique things about Christmas day in the UK is being able to go to the pub before lunch - a fine tradition

Well, in Melbourne you never know what the weather will be like...could be Aussie and on the beach or could be traditional English, cold and by the fire.

I'm hoping for Aussie as have UK friends coming over who will expect a few prawns on the barbie etc.

With the current Mellie weather I don't think I'll be having a tan for Christmas!
