Re: Alcohol in the US

States out west have pretty large counties, some of them. The eastern ones not so much. GA is only second to TX for having the largest number of counties. Our counties are teeny... but I'm not...

Re: Alcohol in the US

I was always cool about being designated driver as long as it wasn't MY car we were driving. I didn't want anyone to puke in my car. Grotty. ;)

Re: Not Sure if I can Deal with the American Dream much longer

Wow... sounds like something Bradbury would write. If you ever remember who wrote it, shoot me the author's name and the title so I can give it a read.

Re: Not Sure if I can Deal with the American Dream much longer

Re: What's the deal with "Spelling Bees"?

Yep. I think there's at least a few put in hospital every time it happens. I wasn't being entirely serious about how much I enjoyed it, mind. It's like the Running of the Bulls or something......

Re: What's the deal with "Spelling Bees"?

Meh, spelling bees and stuff like that may be educational and mentally stimulating, but I'd rather watch people chase cheese down a hill. Does that make me uncouth?

Re: Mozzie Misery

Nothing wrong with fearing rabies. It's a nasty disease. Not all animals have/carry it, of course.
One rule wildlife-type-folks like me have: If it's a wild mammal, and it doesn't run from you,...

Re: Mozzie Misery

Bats dart around very deftly without hitting a single person on their low flights. The stories of bats getting caught in hair are mostly hype, but it has happened, usually because a bat's...

Re: Mozzie Misery

We used to have lots of mosquitoes around, but since a family of barn swallows moved in under the eve of our house and continued to return year after year, we've had nary a problem with the bugs. ...

I'd like to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there permanently. Hurricanes, humidity, electrical storms... I know gets pretty humid up here in GA, so I can only imagine how sticky it can get down...

Re: Any resentment on arrival?

Oh, another thing I just thought about that you will hear a LOT.
"We really whipped you good, didn't we?" or other references to the Revolutionary War. They're usually not meant in spite. ...
