A lot of locals still drive to the local bar, have three or four beers, and then drive the short distance home.
During my recent 10 day stay in UK, I drove just over 1000 miles, (mainly on the motorways). During that time I saw 4 police cars on the motorways.

Last week I drove from Lafayette, LA to New Orleans and I saw that many police cars within the first 10 miles of driving.

There seem to be MANY more cop cars around here compared to UK.

cameras used to catch the wonky drivers though ain't it

down my way and along NH, it's helicopters in the sky that tag speeders and wavy drivers, you get a ticket for speeding but the police head you off if your a wonky driver

amusing that some of their cop cars are brown and hide in the ditches...

You're not alone, though. Back in England, the big thing last year was "Becks Vier" - supposed to taste the same as regular Becks, but 4% ABV instead of 5%.

Down here, I tend to drink Tecate. 4.5% and, unlike Bud, Coors etc, you can actually taste it.
Have you tried MGD? I refused to drink it for years, assuming it was the same piss-water as bud/coors. Then a g/f bought some for me and it was the only beer in the house, and ... it was surprisingly good. I now drink MGD by preference (NOT Miller Lite, which is a different story!).

They do a lot of DUI checkpoints in my area. When I go out I always have a DD, if I am at a friend's house I will usually just crash there for the night.

Unfortunately as others said the problem is the distance between everything. You usually travel a few miles to get to the bar and public transportation can be nill. Not an excuse for drinking and driving but it doesn't help.

Sounds like some of you should start drinking and cycling. It makes the "few miles" completely irrelevant.

That's how I do it.

You seen the roads? You'd last about 5 minutes on a bike around here

I think it depends where you live, A friend of mine who lived in Ohio, frequented a local 'police bar' , the place always had after duty copus, drinking beer every night, he would sit there getting absolutely pissed, and the cops would actually escort him home with him behind the wheel, once he pulle din to his driveway, they would go back to the bar - Perfectly acceptable in OH!

All depends on where you live. Right now since I live in the midwest and in what is also known as the bible belt, can't even buy alcohol in a store on Sundays (can purchase an alcoholic beverage in a restaurant/bar tho). They are very big on DUI checkpoints too, but thats mostly because of the colleges

They'll give you a DWI for that as well. At least around here.
