Default Dollar Stores

Ok, I admit it, I'm a cheapass - I've recently discovered Dollar Tree stores across the border and looking for other suggestions as to ones that are as good in terms of selection/quality (within reason of course ). Any suggestions as to similar dollar chains? Obviously specific local ones won't be much use to me, unless they happen to be in MI..

Here we really only have one choice for decent dollar stores here in Canada and that's Dollarama.

I hit the dollar tree every couple of months or so, we went yesterday.
Great wrapping paper, gift bags, pool toys right now.
There used to be one called 99c store, but I think they changed over to $1

Yep me too love them great places, and brand names, be careful of the dates on some food items.

I go in for 1 thing and come out with a basket full

Thumbs up Re: Dollar Stores

Shopping for everyday groceries on the cheap, try ALDI. The ones in the US are very similar to those in UK & Europe, guaranteed to save you money over regular supermarkets

See if there is one near you:

I would of agreed if I still lived in Illinois, but the ones here are sharp, really nice, well the ones local to me are.

Majority of the staff have no teeth or look like they are 2 sandwichs short of a picnic.

Not sure if it's a chain, but here in AZ we have one called "Family Dollar Store". We also have the "Dollar Tree" ones.

Every day I drive by a store called "Wowmart!" But I have yet to go inside (it's not in the best neighborhood...lol) But the name just makes me laugh every day.

Dollar Tree rocks for wrapping paper and gift bags.
I always seem to forget about it though until I've bought the stuff somewhere else...doh.

I want to go to WOWmart...that sounds fantastically terrible!!!!

We have Dollar Tree (where everything is $1) and Family Dollar (not sure). But we also have Dollar General, where stuff costs more than $1, so it's more of a general purpose cheap crap shop.

No ALDI in TX

I think I've seen Family Dollar - I'll check them out.

I've also seen Aldi but haven't been in there - do they sell the same pseudo German stuff that they sell in the UK ones? Surely they don't ship stuff out here?

I noticed last year in the UK that the Aldi's there started to get select US stuff - Hershey's etc, wondered why, but then realised when I saw them in the US....

ive found them good for odd stuff. Like when i had to take napkins and paper plates in to preschool- a couple of packets from there and i was sorted. Or when the kids wanted a hulk placemat (dont ask lol). or a red/white santa hat at xmas, or kids sized clothes hangers.
