Living by the lake you do get periods of high humidity - it's part of the Canadian summer. Yes, some days are horrid - it's not nice being hot and sweaty but all you need to do crank up the air...

Qualifications between US and Canadian universities sometimes differ. Some degrees granted in the US are not recognized in Canada. Worth checking into for sure.
