Hi everyone
Just thought I'd let you know that I've finally arrived in Canada after 2 1/2 years of stress!
Don't know if it will help anyone, but my personal experience of the immigration control at Toronto was pretty smooth. After having an 8 hour flight delay and having to go via Glasgow (my original flight got cancelled!) I arrived very tired and stressed at Toronto. The immigration officer I saw was very polite and helpful and only wanted to know where I was going to be living. I was given quite alot of useful information (SIN/ OHIP application forms etc) and gave the officer my list of "goods to follow" and then I was off - a permanent resident in Canada! Overall including picking up my luggage it took about an hour and everyone I saw was very pleasant.
So good luck to all of you still waiting and have faith cos it's all worth it in the end!!

I lived in Oakville for four years, until last August. I know the place very well and have some good (ie useful) contacts.
Just drop me a PM if you need any help with stuff.

........god, i'm jealous.....it does seem forever, although its gonna be worth it in the end.
We've been to Oakville and very nice too, although the houses are very expensive, next door in Burlington is also nice......but of you have the money to settle in these areas you won't be disappointed....

Congrats on your arrival in Canada....I'm so happy to hear that you were welcomed into the country by helpful, friendly airport staff. I wish you the best of luck in getting established - Oakville is a lovely area with lots to offer.
