"Funny" in the UK
Says it all: from BBC news online.
Man stripped in skinhead attack
A gang of skinheads kicked and punched a homeless man in an unprovoked attack before stripping him and leaving him naked in the street.
The 45-year-old suffered "severe" bruising to his eyes and may have been left with permanent eye damage after the attack outside a nightclub.
Police say the victim, who had been drinking, can remember little about the assault outside Southampton's Venue.
Details of Wednesday's attack have been released in an appeal for witnesses.
A police spokesman said: "It's believed the attackers found the incident funny."
Where's the empathy, pity, understanding, respect for other human beings ?
Grrrr...pure sub human savages.
Rich.

but some cops like to exert their power as well as in this example:

...and then there's the government.
(Unfortunately, there are many more examples.)

'Internet at its worst': Crown
Last updated Jun 8 2005 08:16 AM MDT
CBC News
CALGARY – A case where a child was allegedly assaulted live during a web broadcast is extremely unusual and an example of the internet at its worst, the Crown prosecuting the case said.
A 36-year-old Fort McMurray man is facing charges of child pornography, sexual interference, sexual assault, counselling an offence and counselling an offence of sexual assault.
"This is extremely unusual, this case," Crown Steven Bilodeau said. "This is the first where the allegations are that a child was being molested live on the internet."
RCMP say they were tipped to the crime by a woman in Missouri, who was watching a webcast in April when she saw an assault on a child, believed to be between five and nine.
Bilodeau, who works full time on internet and technology cases, says this is his first experience with an alleged sexual assault being broadcast live on the web.
"We since have another [unrelated] file where a child was allegedly molested, but this was recorded and then broadcast via webcam," he said. "So this is happening. It's happening out there.
"When you see child pornography on the internet, you have to remember this is a child being sexually abused and that abuse is being photographed."
Tuesday, Justice Minister Irwin Cotler promised tougher sentences in child pornography cases, as new legislation passed first reading.
"This is a very good bill for all those who care, and should care, about protecting children against child pornographers," Cotler said.
The man charged in the webcast case is out on bail, but had his computer seized. He will next appear in court in two weeks.

I've seen plenty of "funny" incodents at my Canadian University.
I agree the UK has a problem and this isn't aimed at anyone in particular but I often get the impression people on here think that Canada has not one single problem or bad side and Britain is some kind of disgrace and that Canada doesnt share any of its issues which seems very niave.

I don't know if you can ever appreciate the difference the Brits see when the come to Canada and experience manners, civility, respect, patience, more tolerance, more respect for elders, less raod rage, and teens with manners and the ability to communicate not merely grunt, etc. No, "Canada is not Shangri-La" as I often say, but it has a damned site better QOL.
Grim stuff. Call me cyncial or pessimistic in that respect. But one thing which appeals in Canada is the improved QOL and the positive impact it will have on our own lives. More, a better fit with our social expectations.

The crime problem is far worse in urban areas, which is where 99% of scummy people live.

I'm only going by my experiences in Canada whilst at University.
I see mindless vandalism every weekend, lights smashed, ceiling tiles torn down, posters pulled off the wall, drunk people running around. I even witnessed my first ever break in whilst in Canada and had to make a statement to the police.
It doesnt taint my view of Canda, it is a great place. It just seems that a lot of people only think these things only happen in the UK and once at the doors of Canada it is all behind them.
