Default summer hols in Toronto

Hi all
were thinking of going to toronto in the summer. We intend to hire a car and look around neighbourhoods. We are planning to take our 14 year old son with us, but feel mean because that wouldnt be much of a hol!! Has anyone any suggestions of how we could makea bit of research for us into a holiday for him. ....are there caravan sites/trailer parks that we could book in a nice spot for a week.....appreciate any websites or advice
Thanks a lot
Patsy

Stick him on a boat for a week.

one of my daughters did that at fourteen, she got hooked and sailing is now a major part of her life.

How about getting him bandy legs at a summer camp :

I appreciate what you mean. We took our 3 on a recce and it did not go down well. All that travel looking at areas to potentially live in. We broke up the days by doing visitor sites one day, and towns/areas the next.

Someone posted the link below a while ago

It seems according to the video Niagara has camp sites and is a very pleasant area on the whole - we did not see them though as we stayed in hotels

In the city you could break up nighbourhood touring with trips downtown to the cliches like the CN tower etc. Take teh ferry to the Toronto Islands. Center Island has loads of stuff to do and that should be good, especially if it's as hot as it is now. You could drive north for a day to Wasaga Beach. It's only a couple of hours on highway 400 and that would be like going to the beach for the day. Niagara Falls is a must see if you haven't before and there are tonnes of tourist type holiday things there, although it's a longer drive and worth staying over night if you can to see more stuff. The CNE and Ontario Place down on the lake is another place to go with a water park etc.

I guess it depends on what kind of thing he would expect to do on a regular holiday.

last summer we visited Bronte Creek..........(near Oakvile/Burlington),its brill, has lots of space for picnicing, with outdoor sports courts and lots of other stuff to do and an outdoor pool,(pay extra) thinking back think it was 10 dollars for the car with 4 of us ( entry to the park)and to swim a further 6 or 7 dollars...for all 4 of us.......
, i think you can even buy a season pass too.....

also make sure you take in a baseball game at the rogers centre( skydome)
great with the roof open.............

There is lots to see and do in and around the Toronto area.....it all depends on what you like to do. Wonderland and the Toronto Metro Zoo are well worth a visit.
