Re: University Fees

Having property means it is easier to prove you are 'ordinarily resident' in the UK. If you don't have property it makes it harder to prove you are just abroad temporarily. Nic1 I know a few people...

Re: University Fees

Do you have property in the UK? It is much easier to get home status if you do. It also means you don't necessarily have to spend the last 3 years in the EU.

Re: Is my story the classic DXB story ??

Most people come to Dubai for its alluring culture. That is if culture meant trying to out-do each other in a game of who is the fastest to break their bank balance in a week. Dubai is...

Re: cycling? Fitness?

Lots of people cycle in the gated communities as the roads are quiet, wife-swapping gets boring, and it is relatively safe. However, for the other parts of Dubai, it is only recommended if you are...

Re: Starbucks

This is the part where TA5 makes up a few facts, and calls the rest of you morons that failed in London, made it in Dubai. Then he\'ll tell you what a $hithole Dubai is. ;)

Re: Cultural integration...

It depends on what you mean by indian, pakistani and so on. I regularly socialise with Brits of Asian or African backgrounds for instance, but not many Indians. I don\'t think it is a race thing,...

Re: Cultural integration...

I think there is a lot of cultural integration in Dubai, but the locals do tend to keep to themselves. Perhaps they prefer it that way. The expats though do tend to mix fairly well.

Re: Am I doing the right thing? (Taking a job in Dubai)

There are good and bad ones, but I\'d say the majority of the ones expats send their kids to are good. There is a reason why some of them have waiting lists you know. ;) Schools here are just like...

Rents in 2007

What do you think will be happening to rents in 2007? I personally think rents for villas are either going to remain at current levels or increase, whereas rents for apartments will fall due to the...

Re: Am I doing the right thing? (Taking a job in Dubai)

Anyone who pays 260k for a 3bed in Jumeirah is mad particularly when you can easily get one for Dhs150k. Had a look at the property pages of GN over the last week or so, there are a few going for...

Re: Villa for sale

Rents are shooting through the roof. A mate that rents in The Meadows first got his villa for Dhs110,000 in 2003, then it went up to Dhs120,000 in 2004 and now his landlord has told him that when...
