20 mins later there's a news break - we hit the sofa...

Re: Australian living costs

Sure thing - which is why I said alluded to. My own view and again personal views are in a way irrelevant because they are so personal - is that there is far too much emphasis placed on money and...

Re: Australian living costs

Just to throw another angle on this and to counter something that Grayling alluded to earlier.......I think that it it is entirely healthy to move around the world and know that financially you will...

Re: Banks - ANZ

Well, I hope that the bank doesn't do one of the "Oh it doesn't apply in Vic/NT/NSW " tricks!!

Basically it's part of ANZ called Edubank. Call up ANZ and ask them to put you through to a...

We've been in Singapore for a few new years eves. It's a great place to be although as parents of young kids we couldn't really go out and do the bar thing.

There are stacks of bars but the...

Re: Having a nice time but not learning anything

We read the newspaper today and it confirmed our fears. Whilst it will undoubtedly depend on which school your child is at, it shows that you need to be very careful and aware of your child's...

Re: What is most Alienating about Oz?

It's very third world in terms of systems generally - especially compared to the UK. Banking, retail, skills recognition (but you all know that one!), price fixing (tell me why prawns are $29.95 a...

Do you have any contacts still in saudi who could approach the Police HQ on your behalf? Secondly you could try...

Re: Why Perth?

We saw loads of that stuff up at Whiteman's Park today - reminded me of lavender.

By the way - weather was great today!

Bit too hot though.

And dry.

Not like a good English summer's day.

Re: Moaning, whinging, sad, boring people on this site!

I agree.
My post about Perth's weather was good fun. I was enjoying the chat with a few others about the climate, our expectations.

Note the fact that we were actually commenting on how unusual...

Re: Moaning, whinging, sad, boring people on this site!

You're a sad man.

Do you really think I contacted DIMIA? Do you really think that they offered with my relocation expenses?

Sense of humour loss.

Re: Don't come to Perth. The weather is

This is great. A flippant comment about the rain in Perth turns into a war between cities to see who has the worst weather!

Re: Don't come to Perth. The weather is

Re: Don't come to Perth. The weather is

Just so that those of you on the way to Perth don't panic.

I wouldn't really want to swap Perth for anywhere else. It is a great place.

And the rain isn't really an issue - at least we won't be...

Re: List of top 5 types of People that should reconsider migration.

Here's a self test.....

When you go on holiday abroad do you compare food, drink, weather(!), countryside to home or do you just accept it for what it is?

Re: Don't come to Perth. The weather is

Just received an e-mail this morning from DIMIA saying that although they can't offer me a refund they are happy to help with relocation expenses to Queensland!

Fantastic!

Re: Don't come to Perth. The weather is

We did move for the weather - as others have pointed out the weather changes pretty much everything about your lifestyle.

I'm not really that fussed - I've done England don't forget! (And I've...
