Re: More Cost of Living Questions

It's with Wizard, but at the moment is interest only. The amount we pay depends on the amount in our account with them. Salary goes straight into our Wizard account and any balance offsets against...

Re: Interest showed In our house....BUT

We ended up dropping by 25000 pounds, this time last year. Our main aim was to get to Oz, we had a buyer who couldn't sell his and so we dropped so that he could drop also.
Ultimately, whatever the...

Re: Missing Parcel

We sent a parcel to the UK more than 2 weeks ago (usually it takes 8 days). Hopefully it's just the Christmas rush. Aus post have helpfully said that there's no way to track it.

Re: It's been a long, long time!

When is the book coming out? Your style of writing is infinitely more interesting and addictive than most 'A year in a different country' sagas.

Please write more - you have a real talent.

Re: Wife's not sure now

Hi OP,
I remember when we received our visa, a part of me was disappointed because we then had to make our dreams into reality. We have now been here 7 months, have bought a house and are both...

Re: 6 week real life trial, has anyone tried it?

Personally, I wouldn't put the children in school because it's the end of the UK school year and they will need a break. To put them into a new school and expect them to work hard, knowing it's just...

Re: Bloody Nits

When your childrens' hair is nit-free, spray them with hairspray before school each day. It makes the hair 'dirty' and the nits do not like it. When I was a teacher, I did this on my own hair and...

Re: I have to get 8 bankers cheques for my settlement

We are in NSW and will receive $7000 grant and have our stamp duty paid. Not bad! We're paying all of our fees and buying air con - thanks John Howard!

Re: Return to the UK

I live in Port Macquarie. This is a lovely town and we have been here 7 months. Cheap housing (we're just buying a 4 bedroom house with a large yard for $375000), seven clean empty beaches, friendly...

Re: opening a bank account

One thing that surprised us was the bank charges. We opened an account with the Commonwealth before we arrived, but they charged us even though we weren't using it. At one point we had overdrafts in...

Re: Had a really bad day!
